I have read several songwriting books and looked into several programs. All the essentials are here, and this doesn't get into great detail, so it's easy to read and start applying the exercises right away. Perfect for those who don't want to get bogged down in areas they are not interested in improving. Each of us are at different stages in this craft and can always dig further for information regarding specifics.For example, should I need to address my music theory or chord formation process, I can do that separately. However, if I did not need to focus on my theory/chord formation process, I don't have to skim through the book to find things that apply to me.
I was grateful that the author included apps, programs, and links for tools. Some I had used and others I had not. Even the ones I had used, some not in a long time, so it reminded me to renew my acquaintance with some of them.
This book is full of useful information, but concisely written. It just depends if you are the type of person who wants every detail or if you just need the basic facts that you can read through to get started, or get restarted/re-motivated.
It was re-motivating and re-inspiring for me. Thank you

Very good book!! Boils song writing down to itʻs essential elements. Has some great tools to help the process and stimulate ideas.
Good starter book for song writing. Basics explained very well. Has some good website links for resources. Would recommend for anyone as a starter book or to brush up on the basics.
didn't help much at all. read it the day I got it, which was a couple weeks ago, and I can honestly say I remember nothing about the book, except while I was reading it what a bunch of crap it was.
As a primer for the absolutely novice songwriter, "How to Write A Sensational Song" is a wonderful tool that introduces the reader to the bare basics of putting a song together. For an intermediate songwriter such as myself, however, the book really didn't offer much in the way of nuts and bolts. I was looking more for chord and key relationships and how they work together in the composition of a song, which you won't find here. I would dispute the claim that anyone can become a good songwriter (it still does take an amount of innate talent), but budding songwriters who are thirsting for knowledge can find a good start in this conversational book that will guide them through the fundamentals. More experienced songwriters may need to look elsewhere. It all depends on where you're at in your process and what it is you're looking for.
You really can't go wrong for $2.99. I've read dozens of songwriting books and this pretty much sums it all up. The 20 quickfire tips at the the very end alone were worth the cover price.
Many people think that songwriting just happens, meaning only a few select people possess the ability to write. While it does in some cases, countless others give up because of the seemingly unconquerable difficulty and ever present writer's block. For those who feel like giving up, I offer that this book will definitely give you a reason to keep chasing the dream and work toward unleashing your full potential. Thank you for a product that helps the little guy become better and more confident in his/her craft. Keep up the great work and sound teaching!
